Our goal for the athlete is to return the patient to the sport quickly, while preventing re-injuries through proper warm-up and training procedures. Our program is uncommonly effective, helping return patients to previous levels of sports activity through exercises for the trunk, upper, and lower extremities and back.

Hand Therapy

Because of the unique structure, anatomy and functional requirements of the hand, specialized training is necessary for proper rehabilitation. Hand rehabilitation is truly a sub-specialty of orthopedics. Physical Therapists and physicians work closely to be sure appropriate intervention is being rendered for the specific surgical intervention you have received.

Spinal Rehabilitation

Spinal rehabilitation refers to problems with your neck or back. Because of the unique structure of the spine and special problems related to this area, specialized training is necessary to ensure appropriate intervention. Because the majority of problems are mechanical, relating to specific activities, postures, and habits of the patient’s and client’s life style, a mechanical solution is necessary. A thorough evaluation will be performed to identify movements, positions, and activities that aggravate the condition as well as those that will decrease symptoms. It’s important to note that MPTS is the only Physical Therapy provider in the area that provides the Pneu-Lift™ Unweighting System. By reducing the risk and fear of falling the Pneu-Lift™ inspires confidence in patients and therapists, encouraging them to work on new skills and take therapy to the next level.

Neurological Rehabilitation

Women’s Health

Pelvic pain in women is probably more common than you’d imagine. Various exercises and techniques may be beneficial in decreasing or eliminating your discomfort. Make an appointment to talk to a female therapist about your concerns. Pregnancy and back pain often go hand in hand. However, there are ways to reduce discomfort using proper body mechanics and patient/client aids. Incontinence is a condition which can be both inconvenient and annoying. Muscle training may be helpful in dealing with this problem. Talk to your physician and ask if physical therapy may help. Or, call 288-MPTS and ask to speak with Caleen Pagel, P.T. She would be happy to discuss your concerns.

Custom Orthotics

Orthotics are customized inserts that are worn inside the shoe and used to improve the mechanical structure and/or function of the feet.  They allow the muscles, tendons and bones of the feet and lower legs to function at their highest potential. When appropriately prescribed, orthotics can decrease pain, not only in the foot, but in other parts of the body such as the knee, hip and lower back to improve daily activities.  To create your custom orthotics, our PT who is certified in Orthotics will use an impression kit to get an accurate mold of the foot and then your impressions are sent into our lab to help create the orthotic insert based upon the options and recommendations you and our P.T. has discussed.  There are a wide variety of “custom orthotics” available so please call our expert, Caleen Pagel, P.T. today at (563) 288-6787 if you’d like a consultation!
