Industrial Rehabilitation is a comprehensive, combination of rehabilitation programs specifically targeted for employers. Our programs are aimed at the prevention and reduction of work-related injuries, the evaluation and treatment of the injured worker and the return of the injured worker to productive employment safely, efficiently, and as soon as possible. Below are the programs Muscatine Physical Therapy Services, P.C. currently offers specifically designed for our Employers:
Before an offer of employment is made to a candidate, a Pre–Offer Test is usually given to identify whether or not an individual has the physical demand capacity required to perform a level of work and can meet the essential function requirements of a job. Medical history is not collected nor exams administered.
Our Post-Offer Test, utilizing the WorkSTEPS® system, determines a prospective worker’s functional abilities or limitations so that he or she can be appropriately matched with a job. The test can be an effective management tool to decrease disability-related costs, as well as minimize possible work-related injuries. It is not surprising that many companies now require post-offer testing to detect employees who have pre-existing conditions and/or are unable to perform relevant job specific activities. Please call our office at (563) 288-6787 if you have questions or would like to schedule an employee for testing today!
WorkSTEPS® was developed to meet a critical employer need- to create a medically safe, legally compliant, scientific and objective means of matching a worker’s functional capabilities with the essential functions of the job. WorkSTEPS® has been shown to effectively reduce work place injury incidence and work place injury costs. WorkSTEPS® is based upon objective scientific data and collection, conforms fully to EEOC Guidelines for application of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Employers utilizing WorkSTEPS® in their comprehensive prevention and work injury management programming are experiencing average work injury reductions of 50% during the first year of implementation. Currently, MPTS is one of only three certified WorkSTEPS® providers in the state of Iowa!
MPTS has two therapists certified in Ergonomic Analysis. We use specific analysis techniques which may include bio-mechanical models, energy expenditure evaluations, time and motion studies, force measurement, postural analysis, and standardized evaluation tools. After our analysis, MPTS will provide you with a detailed report that outlines and prioritizes the risks and primary concerns for the job(s) reviewed, with our recommendations to remedy these concerns. Call us at (563) 288-6787 to schedule an ergonomic analysis today!
At MPTS, for nearly 30 years we have been treating individuals who’ve been injured while on the job. We know the employer’s business, their environment and the physical demands associated with their jobs. With an injured worker, once your physician determines physical therapy is appropriate, simply contact us to start working with you, the client, and the physician. The benefits of our program are that we will provide direct communication to the employer, to the nurse case manager, and to the insurance adjustor as needed or requested. MPTS also is able to offer continuous care from the onset of the employee’s injury through their return to work. Contact us at (563) 288-6787 to talk with us about how we can help you with your Work Comp issues today!
Our Fit-for-Duty and Return-to-Work Analysis are designed to help return your employees back to productive work after an injury through a modified work program if they are unable to come back in their full capacity. By being able to return an employee back to productive work after an injury through a modified work program can help you reduce the losses which impact your workman’s comp insurance costs.
Our Therapists, skilled in administering FCE’s, will use a series of standardized tests measuring physical strength, ”range of motion”, stamina, and tolerance to functional activities, including lifting and carrying. These tests can be used to evaluate work tolerance, and the necessity for work restrictions. FCE’s value to the injured individual is the focus on functional ability instead of the pain limitation associated with an impairment. Functional Capacity Evaluation is not only a useful clinical tool, but a baseline for industry-standard results that clearly define an individual’s transition from injury to employment, and from disability to deployment. MPTS offers one of the newest technologies for accurately assessing the employee’s ‘validity of effort’ with the new X-RTS Cross Reference Testing System. Contact us at (563) 288-6787 if you’d like to find out more about X-RTS and our FCE program!
The key factor in carpal tunnel syndrome tends to be the employee’s ergonomic situation. At Muscatine Physical Therapy Services, P.C., we have certified ergonomic evaluation specialists who will meet with the employee to discuss their work situation to see how we can help to improve their situation and prevent further injuries. For our carpal tunnel patients, our licensed therapists work with them to help them reduce pressure on the nerves and relieve pain. For longer-term care, our licensed therapists will develop a personalized rehabilitation program designed to train both the body and to educate the patient on decreasing the risk of re-injury down the road.
