Paul O. Kraushaar, P.T., President
Paul established Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in 1982 and in 2002; Stephen T. Wieskamp, P.T. became his partner. The practice changed its name to Muscatine Physical Therapy Services, P.C. and in 2005, they added clinics in Columbus Junction and West Liberty, Iowa and are continuing to grow.Paul is a graduate of the University of Iowa and has been practicing physical therapy since 1977. Paul’s professional interests are orthopedic physical therapy, industrial consultation and rehabilitation, geriatric physical therapy, and working to establish healthy life styles for his patients through the use of the Take Shape for Life® system. Paul recently become appointed as an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Iowa Physical Therapy Education program. He is a past vice president of the Iowa Physical Therapy Association and has held office as the Chairperson of the Nominating Committee of the APTA Private Practice Section. His professional memberships are with the American Physical Therapy Association, the Iowa Physical Therapy Association, the Private Practice, Orthopedic and the Geriatric Sections of the APTA. Locally he is currently a Board Member of the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, past board member of the Muscatine Chapter of the American Red Cross and past president and member of the Muscatine Catholic Board of Education. During his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife Amy and their family, singing at church, exercising and boating.
Stephen T. Wieskamp. P.T., Vice-President
A life-long resident of Muscatine, Steve began his career with Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in 1996. On July 1 of 2002, Steve became a partner in Muscatine Physical Therapy Services, P.C. and became a co-owner in the business with Paul Kraushaar, P.T. Steve graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1994 with a BA in Biology and then from the University of Iowa in 1996 with his Master of Physical Therapy degree. Steve’s specialties include orthopedics, sports medicine, industrial rehabilitation and ergonomic assessments. Steve is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association , the Iowa Physical Therapy Association , the Private Practice Section and the Orthopedic Section of the APTA . In his free time, Steve enjoys spending time with family, playing basketball and lifting weights.
Caleen M. Pagel, P.T.
Caleen began her career at Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in 1986 and continues to provide outpatient services today. Caleen graduated from the University of Iowa in 1978 with a BS in General Science. In 1980, she received her Certificate in Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa. Between 1980 and 1986, Caleen provided hospital and outpatient care in Charles City, Dubuque, and Waterloo, Iowa. Caleen not only provides orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation, but also treats many specific women’s health issues including pelvic pain, incontinence and back pain associated with pregnancy. She is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist actively treating patients with chronic swelling and also offers free Tai Chi classes at a variety of locations around Muscatine. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Iowa Physical Therapy Association . In her free time, Caleen is enjoying her new role as a grandmother and also enjoys snowshoeing, biking and cross-country skiing.
Michael Wright, D.P.T
Mike joined Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in January of 2010. He attended Western Illinois University graduating in 2007 with a B.A. in Biology. Mike then continued his education at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, graduating with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree in 2009. Michael provides care for orthopedic, neurological, and industrial rehabilitation with a special interest in sports medicine. Michael is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Iowa Physical Therapy Association, the Sports Physical Therapy section and the Orthopedic Section of the APTA. In his free time, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter.
Stacey Hampton, P.T.A.
Stacey, who grew up in Muscatine and graduated from Muscatine High School, began working with Muscatine Physical Therapy Services as a physical therapist technician in 1995. She then attended Black Hawk College earning her Associates degree and became a licensed PTA in 2000. Shortly after obtaining her degree, Stacey rejoined the MPTS Team as a PTA. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, Stacey works under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist and performs interventions selected by the supervising PT. In addition, she provides aquatic therapy through an agreement with the Muscatine Community Y. Stacey is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Iowa Physical Therapy Association . Away from the clinic, Stacey is active in supporting her children’s sporting and musical activities. She enjoys reading, spending time outdoors and walking with her husband Steve and dog, Bella.
Angie Hunter, P.T.A.
Angie joined Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in December of 2005 where she began working as a Licensed PTA. Upon graduating from Muscatine High School in 2000, Angie attended Muscatine Community College and in 2003, transferred to Black Hawk College graduating from their Physical Therapy Assistant Program in August of 2005. As a PTA, Angie works under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist and performs interventions selected by the supervising PT. Angie, who is bilingual, is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Iowa Physical Therapy Association. Angie also has interests in Orthopedic Therapy and Cancer Rehabilitation. In her free time, Angie enjoys spending time with her husband JD, her family, and working out.
Wendi Koch, P.T.A.
Wendi joined Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in March of 2009 as a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant. Wendi graduated from the Physical Therapy Assistant program at Black Hawk College (Quad City Campus) in 1994 and works under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist and performs interventions selected by the supervising PT. Wendi has interest and experience with inpatient acute care, Orthopedic, Fibromyalgia and prenatal exercises and stroke therapies. Outside of work Wendi resides in Wilton, Iowa with her husband and three children. She is an active Girl Scout Leader, Service Unit Director, and Day Camp Director. She is also very active with her church and is leader of their Kids Care Group. In her spare time, Wendi enjoys scrap-booking, photography, sewing and watching her kids activities.
Ashley McKay, P.T.A.
Ashley joined Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in June 2011 as a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant. Ashley had her clinical at Muscatine Physical Therapy and job shadowed during her Summer break in 2009. Ashley graduated from Black Hawk College with an Associate’s degree in applied science and became a licensed PTA in 2010. Ashley works under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist and performs interventions selected by the supervising P.T. Ashley enjoys being outdoors, going for walks, as well as spending time with her family, friends, and fiance’ Shawn. Ashley and Shawn will be getting married in November 2011.
Nicole Salvesen, ATC
Nicole joined Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in June 2011 as a Certified Athletic Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Nicole graduated in 2009 from Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training. She then traveled to West to Fargo, North Dakota, where she attended North Dakota State University obtaining her Master’s Degree in Exercise Science in 2011. While at NDSU, Nicole worked primarily with the Bison softball team traveling with them across the country. At MPTS, Nicole provides athletic training coverage for Muscatine High School and also helps out with the Sports Performance program. Nicole enjoys anything outdoors, participating in and watching sports, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Scott Morel, Sports Performance & Wellness Program Coordinator
Scott has been with Muscatine Physical Therapy Services since 2009. Since graduating from Rock Island Alleman High School in 1992, Scott has spent nearly 15 years coaching at the collegiate level. He has coached men’s and women’s basketball at Black Hawk College as well as serving nine years on the sidelines coaching football. Scott is a Certified Sports Conditioning Specialist which has helped him with his success in a variety of different programs at a variety of different levels. Scott currently resides in Muscatine with his lovely wife LeRon (Lee) and their two beautiful daughters Sanaai and Ericka. In addition to spending time with family, Scott also enjoys helping coach youth sports for both AAU and traveling teams.
Dawn Pence, Director of Business Operations
Dawn joined Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in June of 2007 as Director of Business Operations. She is a life-long resident of Muscatine having graduated from Muscatine Community College, Iowa Wesleyan College and having started her MBA program at St. Ambrose University. Dawn’s professional experience includes management, credit, customer service, marketing and sales training. She is actively involved in the United Way as a board and executive board Member. She is also actively involved in her church as a board chair for their education program. She is a certified Health Coach with the Take Shape For Life® program offered at MPTS. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. When not busy watching her children participating in school/sporting activities, she and her husband enjoy cooking, entertaining family and friends, golf, reading and traveling.
Barry Pence, Director of Marketing
Barry joined Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in February of 2011 as Director of Marketing. In this role, he is responsible for customer relationship management, new business development, and marketing the various programs and services MPTS offers to the diverse mix of clients we serve. Barry graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College with a B.A. and received his MBA from the University of Iowa in 2001. He brings over 25 years of management, marketing, sales, and human resources experience to MPTS and is certified through the Society of Human Resource Management as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). In addition, Barry is an adjunct professor teaching evening classes at MCC in Muscatine. Outside of work, Barry enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, he loves to cook and entertain family and friends, traveling, and hunting.
Sheryl Wieskamp, Policy & Procedure Coordinator
Sheryl joined Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in 2008 and works part time in administration as our Policy and Procedure Coordinator. Sheryl is an R.N. who has worked in the nursing field for over forty years. She has had a variety of experiences throughout her career including psychiatric nursing, hospital nursing, clinics, long-term care, and management. She retired from nursing in 2008. Working part-time allows Sheryl to enjoy more time with her grandchildren and family.
Wendi Meerdink, Supervisor, Client Accounts
Wendi joined Muscatine Physical Therapy Service PC in May of 2011 as Supervisor, Client Accounts. She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1991 and graduated from Wartburg College in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business Administration. Wendi comes to Muscatine Physical Therapy with over 15 years of customer service experience and account management. Wendi and her husband Scott have two sons and enjoy attending their sporting and school activities. In her free time, Wendi enjoys going for walks with her husband and their dog, Divot, cooking and baking, working in the garden, and spending quality time with her family.
Amanda Pershy, Client Accounts
Amanda joined Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in June of 2011 as our Medical Billing and Coding Specialist. Amanda recently graduated from Hamilton Technical College with a degree in medical billing and coding. Her primary duties include providing insurance information to our clients and professional staff, working directly with insurers to ensure proper payment for our clients, as well as processing patient billing for all of our locations. Amanda and her husband John reside here in Muscatine and have one daughter. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys spending time with her familly, motorcycles, cars, and just working with her hands around the garden, yard and home.
Sandi Solomon, Client Services
Sandi began her career with Muscatine Physical Therapy Services nearly 15 years ago, joining the business in 1995. She started her career as a technician while receiving training in drug screen collection and WorkSTEPS testing. With Sandi’s experience, coupled with her bilingual skills and friendly personality, she was moved into the role of Muscatine’s Lead Receptionist in our Patient Services group. Sandi helps provide our patients with a friendly, familiar face when they walk through the door or call on the phone. During her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading and being outdoors.
Monnette Diaz, Client Services
Monnette has been with the Muscatine Physical Therapy Services team since September of 2008. Originally from San Diego, California, Monnette and her family moved to Muscatine in 1999. Monnette graduated from Muscatine High School in 2005 attending Muscatine Community College after graduation. Prior to joining MPTS, Monnette was previously employed as a CNA at Lutheran Homes and Unity Hospitals, both here in Muscatine. Monnette’s bilingual skills are a proven asset in her customer service role. Some of Monnette’s hobbies include bicycling and rollerblading. She also enjoys traveling to visit family members in Colorado, Arizona and California.
Ashley Gerst, Client Technician
Ashley recently joined Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in 2010 as a part-time technician. She grew up in Wapello where she was a multi-sport athlete lettering in volleyball, basketball, track, and softball. After graduating from high school, Ashley went on to play basketball for Central College in Pella and graduated from there in May of 2010 with a major in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. Prior to MPTS, Ashley’s work experience has included sales consulting as well as previous clinical experience with MPTS working part-time. Ashley enjoys scrapbooking, sports, spending time with her family, friends, and her fiance’. She also enjoys taking walks, biking riding, camping and boating. Ashley and her fiance’ Ty will be getting married in June of 2012.
Vicki Everhart, Client Technician
Vicki began working at Muscatine Physical Therapy Services in September of 2010. She helps with the flow of patient care, doing her part in seeing that patients have a positive and enjoyable experience. Vicki is a life long resident of Muscatine graduating from Muscatine High School in 1978. Vicki brings a lot of clerical and customer service experience with her to help support the team’s administrative needs. She enjoys spending time with her husband Wayne and her family. When not spending time with her family she enjoys reading, sewing, bicycling, motorcycles and travel.
Connie Minick, Client Technician
Connie joined Muscatine Physical Therapy Services as a part-time technician in January of 2006 and continues in that same role today. She graduated from UNI with a library science degree. Connie then met her husband and moved to Muscatine where she was the High School’s Media Specialist for 22 years, retiring in 2005. During her career, Connie was very active in the Muskie Booster Club along with other school programs. She and her husband Joe have lived in Muscatine for 37 years. They have two daughters and three grandchildren and are enjoying their part-time retirement.
